DentalOS: Group Admin and User Role Experience

In DentalOS, Group Admins see only the organization groups and locations they administer, can manage users within those groups, and cannot create Super Admins or change dashboard or security settings. Users see only the dashboard tiles their Super Admin has enabled and can open their products and set a default landing page.

Group Admin Experience

Group Admins have a scoped view of DentalOS that is limited to the organization groups and locations they administer. The following describes what Group Admins can and cannot do.

What a Group Admin can do:

  • View only the organization groups and locations they are admins for. If the organization has several groups and the Group Admin administers one, they see only that one.
  • Open the audit log. The audit log shows only events within their organization group.
  • Add and manage users for their organization group.
  • Create other Group Admins and Users, but not Super Admins.

What a Group Admin cannot do:

  • Control dashboard settings.
  • View security settings.
  • Grant the 'Can Add Locations' and 'Purchasing Authority' permissions. Only Super Admins can grant these.

When a Group Admin adds a new user, the role options available are 'Group admin' and 'User' only. When creating a Group Admin, they assign admin rights at the organization group level instead of selecting individual locations. When creating a User, they select from the locations they manage.

User Experience

Users see only the dashboard tiles their Super Admin has left enabled, for example 'Major releases' and the 'Launchpad'. They have no other navigation options. Users can open their products, set their default landing page, and navigate back to DentalOS.
