Quick Answer
In DentalOS, a Super Admin can turn self-service password reset on or off from the Password tab in Manage security settings. When it is on, users can reset their own password from the sign-in page or their profile. When it is off, an administrator must reset the password for them.
Applies To
Product: DentalOS
Plan: All plans
Role: Super Admin (to configure); All users (to use self-service reset)
Steps
- Select 'My Organization', then 'Manage security settings'.
- Select the 'Password' tab.
- Select 'Edit Configuration' if the settings are not editable.
- Turn the 'Self-service password reset' toggle on or off.
If Self-Service Password Reset Is On
- On the sign-in page, users can select 'Forgot password'.
- After signing in, users can select their profile icon at the top and choose the option to reset their password.
When self-service password reset is on, the re-authentication, lockout, and expiration options are also available. See "Password re-authentication, lockout, and expiration settings".
If Self-Service Password Reset Is Off
Users do not see 'Forgot password' on the sign-in page and do not see a reset password option in their profile. An administrator must reset the password for them. See "Reset a user's password as an administrator".
Note: Password complexity settings, such as minimum length, are managed by your identity provider and are not set in DentalOS.
