This is a frequent problem when family members need the same plan, but also need to be a “Self” relationship to the plan. While this can be a problem for any insurance plan, the most common occurrence is when there is a Medicaid or Managed Care plan attached to the individual patient.
When a plan is attached to a patient, Denticon remembers the subscriber information for the previously entered patient. As a result, the user can readily locate the plan by ensuring the “Search In” field indicates “Account Plans,” so the Search button will return all insurance plans that are currently attached to the family account. If the desired plan is returned to the Search returns AND the plan is exactly the one desired, the plan is easily selectable for another family member.
NOTE: When an existing plan which is attached to the family account is selected, Denticon assumes the same subscriber will be used for the additional family member. Any changes to the Subscriber Information for the additional family member will change the Subscriber Information on all patients in the family who use the subscriber who is already indicated.
When an additional family member needs the same plan but must be recorded as a “Self” subscriber to the plan, the plan must be searched in “All Insurance Plans” so a unique relationship to the plan may be entered for the additional family member. After locating the same plan in “All Insurance Plans,” the new subscriber information should be recorded.
