Introduction:
Presently, Denticon always assumes that when like metals are next to each other for a Bridge (pre-existing or completed), they will be a single bridge. This article will help you create a workaround for your team.
Signs:
When in the Restorative Chart, a patient that has two bridges with neighboring teeth show as a single bridge.
Troubleshooting steps:
Creating a new material
- To circumvent this issue, go to the menu for Setup > Charting Materials.
- Press Add New > and create a new entry with the same name with Secondary Distinction.
- Ex. Gold [Sec. Bridge]
- Copy metals/materials for the next to samples.
- Press Save to confirm your changes.
Applying the material to the Procedure Code
- Next, add this metal as an option under the bridge codes via the menu for Setup > Procedure Codes > Procedure Codes.
- Select the codes you use to chart a bridge.
- Next select the Charting tab and press Edit.
- From the Materials menu, select your new material as an available type and press Save. This will allow you to chart as desired.

Best Practices:
Use a secondary material type to help breakup bridges on patient charts when the bridge type is the same but does not share a connection with neighboring teeth.
