Description:
Denticon's Restorative Chart treats each surface of the tooth as it's own entity for Pre-Existing Conditions like Decay. When you select an entire tooth by clicking on the crown, it does not select an 'entire tooth' as impacted, but selects all surfaces of the tooth instead. This will appear as if all the whole tooth as an entity was selected to some users.
Compatibility:
When treatments are posted to the Ledger and they have Charting data entered under Setup > Procedure Codes > Procedure Codes, it will appear as the most recent item on the tooth for specified surfaces in accordance with the selected options. In cases where treatment would cover all surfaces of the tooth (crowns, etc.), it will show the whole tooth as receiving treatment.
Examples:
The example below shows a Restorative Chart where tooth #19 was charted to have have a full tooth of Decay. The Decay appears to still be present on the neighboring surfaces as the initial provider had selected the whole crown when charting Decay as a Pre-Existing Condition. The result is a crown that appears half-treated.
Tooth #19 in this case has only been charted with the impacted surfaces. When a provider posts treatment in the future, the Restorative Chart will now show only the completed treatment with no remaining red areas indicating the need for further treatment.
Best Practices:
Only select the impacted surfaces of teeth for Pre-Existing Conditions and Treatment Planning when using the Restorative Chart so that future treatments will not reflect incorrectly as only having treated part of the issue.
