The steps listed below will help walk you through the process of importing single images and importing into layouts using the Apteryx interface.
- From the main Apteryx page, make sure the correct patient information is listed (either by manual entry or through bridging).
- Click on the Import button.
If the images to import are using Common Image File Types (PNG, JPG, JPEG, STL, PDF):
-
- Select Patient Images.
- Verify the correct patient information populated on the left-hand section.
- Set the Layout if importing multiple images into a predefined layout, or Modality if importing single images. Specify the correct Date (specifically "Capture Date") if applicable.
- Images can either be drag-and-dropped into the tiles from Windows File Explorer, or clicking on an empty tile will populate an Open File prompt to manually navigate to the image(s) location. The tiles will not appear until a layout or modality has been specified.
- If satisfied with imported images and placement, click on the Import button to save the image(s)/layout to the listed patient.
- Select Patient Images.
-
If the images to import are DICOM files (.DCM, .DIC, .DICOM):
- Select DICOM Files.
- Drag the DICOM files to the bounding box, or click the bounding box and use File Explorer to select the DICOM files you need to import.
- Click Import.
- Select DICOM Files.
NOTE: DICOM files contain PHI within their metadata, meaning the images will automatically import into the patient record they belong to and cannot be forcefully imported into a record of your choosing.
If a patient matching the DICOM tags contained within the files does not exist in Apteryx, a new patient with the associated PHI will be created.
If you are unsure of what patient the DICOM files belong to, it is recommended to have the provider of the images supply you with the patient name belonging to these files so they can be easily found after importing. Otherwise, a 3rd party DICOM viewer can be used to confirm the PHI associated within the files' metadata.
