Pre-requisites:
- The patient's Pre-Existing condition shows on their Restorative Chart
- A tooth number is marked on the Pre-Existing Treatment for an editable procedure
- You have access and permission to edit the Restorative Chart
- The office's provider can certify the correct tooth for the procedure and date of service
Step-by-step instructions:
- Navigate the dropdown for Charting > Advanced Charting, then select the Restorative Chart's Pre-Existing tab
- Review the grid at the bottom showing the history of treatment and find the transaction date for the Pre-Existing condition.
- Double left-click on the transaction date to open the Pre-Existing: Edit Date of Service module.
- Check the Inactive box and leave a note as to why the treatment is being marked as Inactive. Press Save to confirm.
- Select the correct tooth on the chart and then select the correct version of the Pre-Existing Condition on the right and add it to the chart.
- The new, correct version of the treatment will populate as is if it were done today. To correct this, double left-click on the transaction date to open the Pre-Existing: Edit Date of Service module.
- Make any needed notes about this edit or reason for editing the notes section for future reference and change the Date of Service to the original date.
- Save the edited condition when done to confirm your changes.
- The treatment will now show on the correct tooth both in the history grid and the Patient's Chart.
Additional Information:
- Why can't I just delete the old procedure?
- We don't recommend this in most cases; however, you certainly can! Especially if the doctor is present to confirm the changes, you can click the date of service to select the procedure and remove it by pressing Delete in the top-right. This does however completely remove the data for the Pre-Existing condition so if it will need to be reinstated later or there is a chance you'll want the original condition back, we recommend the nine steps above.
