Introduction:
Denticon is advancing its multi-specialty functionality with vital monitoring integration to streamline anesthesia record management. With Xchart's API, Denticon will allow clinical users to launch Xchart directly from the patient's chart within Denticon. Surgical procedures and vital monitoring will be handled via Xchart, with the API integration ensuring automatic uploads of complete surgical event records for convenient viewing in Denticon. The following guide will walk you through the process of setting this feature up at the account and office level.
Process description:
The office should submit a ticket to customer support asking that the feature be enabled. Once it has been approved by the account manager and enabled for the PGID, the office will need to complete setup in both the account settings and provider settings.
Pre-requisites:
The office must be signed up for Xchart.
In order to make the changes to the account setup and the provider setup that are necessary for integration, the user will need the following rights:
- Setup-Account Screen Full Control
- Setup-Provider Screen Full Control
- The following security rights have been added. A user will need these assigned to them to utilize Xchart:
- Charting - Vital Monitoring Admin Control (Provides access to dashboard within Xchart)
- Charting - Vital Monitoring Member Control (Allows an Xchart member user to launch Xchart)
- Charting - Vital Monitoring Provider Control (Allows an Xchart provider user to launch Xchart)"
Step-by-step instructions:
Account Setup
- Once the feature has been enabled for the account a vital monitoring section will appear under the "Advanced" tab. This section will reflect if the account is configured and a BAA has been signed.
Provider Setup
Two use cases are assumed when launching Xchart:
- An assistant launches Xchart on behalf of an oral surgeon.
- The oral surgeon launches Xchart for a surgical case they are performing.
Xchart considers two user types, "Members" and "Providers". A provider is recognized when the user role is set to dentist and the "Report Access Provider" field is set to the dentist provider that will be performing the treatment.
Any other user that launches the anesthesia record will be classified as a member.
Only providers can electronically finalize anesthesia records in Xchart.
Tips and best practices:
Launching Anesthesia Record App:
- Clinical users will see a new button on the Restorative Chart to open the Anesthesia Record app.
- Selecting this button will launch Xchart and pass details about the current patient and the provider scheduled with the patient.
- A new anesthesia record will be created in Xchart for the patient.
Using Xchart for Anesthesia Records:
- The clinical team will focus on Xchart for capturing all surgical details.
- Navigate through Xchart using the left pane, which guides users through each step of the clinical record.
- To connect the vital monitor for data capture, click the ‘Connect Vitals Monitor’ button and select from the list of supported devices.
- Continue navigating through Xchart until all steps are completed.
Finalizing Anesthesia Records:
- The oral surgeon must review and electronically sign the anesthesia record in Xchart.
- This final step signals Denticon to receive the finalized report from Xchart.
- The integration will automatically create a Progress Note in Denticon and attach the report PDF.
