Basics:
'Primary'/'Baby'/'Deciduous' Teeth are letters A-J (Upper Arch) and K-T ( Lower Arch). Tooth #'s 1-13 and 20-29 can be changed to Deciduous teeth and vice versa with Primary teeth and Deciduous teeth.
Steps for Charting Deciduous Teeth on an Adult Dentition:
- Access the Restorative Chart from the Charting dropdown menu
- Access the Pre-Existing tab
- Select/Highlight the whole tooth by clicking the area around the Adult tooth (like the 'gum' area near the tooth)
- Click Erupted under the Pre-Existing tab on the right
- Click Deciduous to select and post the erupted Deciduous tooth
- The Restorative Chart will now reflect the Deciduous tooth letter and an image of the Deciduous tooth will replace the Adult tooth number and image
Steps for Charting Adult Teeth on a Pediatric Dentition:
- Access the Restorative Chart from the Charting dropdown menu
- Access the Pre-Existing tab
- Select/Highlight the whole tooth by clicking the area around the Deciduous tooth (like the 'gum' area near the tooth)
- Click Erupted under the Pre-Existing tab on the right
- Click Permanent to select and post the erupted Adult tooth
- The Restorative Chart will now reflect the Adult tooth letter and an image of the Adult tooth will replace the Deciduous tooth number and image
Note:
If the 'Primary'/'Baby'/'Deciduous' tooth has been marked missing on the Pre-Existing tab in the past for the equivalent tooth, it cannot be marked as a pre-sent Pre-Existing Deciduous tooth until this Missing condition is removed.
Note Example:
- Tooth 7 was marked as a Missing Deciduous tooth D. When tooth D is selected in full, it cannot be marked as an Erupted tooth.
- To resolve this, your team can select the Missing condition line item in the Pre-Existing tab preventing the charting of the procedure and click the delete button to remove it, then mark the tooth as present.
- Please note that deleting the treatment will permanently remove the original Missing condition from the system; please check with the charting provider for the original procedure before removing.
