Introduction:
When procedures are completed in an outside office, they should be logged in the Restorative Chart under the "Pre-Existing Tab" so that they are not added to the ledger causing the patient to owe a balance. In order to chart an implant a tooth must be marked as missing. Once the implant is removed there is no default way to indicate the implant as missing or extracted, and the tooth cannot be marked as erupted again. A Z-Code to indicate a removed implant will need to be added to the office's procedure codes and posted under the "Completed" tab instead as a work around.
Process description:
A Z-Code is a non-ADA code that can be used to record a service not covered by the ADA codes. You can set up a Z code to not be a Visit or A/R code so it will not be logged as a visit and there will be no aging fees associated with the code. In Denticon's restorative chart the last code applied to the tooth will be the drawing that is reflected on the chart. Applying a Z code that draws as a missing tooth will override the implant drawing.
