Insurance plans may be entered into the insurance plan database at any time:
- Click the word “Setup” and choose the “Insurance” and “Insurance Plans” options from the drop-down box.
- Click the Add New Insurance Plan button.
Complete the necessary information.
Based on the plan information obtained from the carrier, input the plan details.
The default for "Dental or Medical” is now “Dental.”
• The default for "Plan Type" is now "Please select" and the following fields will update depending on the plan type selected
The Group Number field includes an active search box that will display possible matches in order to avoid duplicates. At least four characters are required to show possible matches to group numbers.
The Carrier and Employer fields also have active search boxes to assist in finding matches and avoiding duplicates. New Carriers and Employers can be added by clicking “Add New” and completing the pop-up fields. The details for the records can be viewed at the “View Details” link with the eye icon. To help avoid duplicate carriers in your account, Denticon alerts you if a duplicate payer ID or carrier name is being created. Users will be prompted to continue or cancel.
On the Coverage and Limitations tab, users can add limitation exception values to Procedure Codes.
- Click the +/- icon to expand/collapse the category to display the procedure codes

To remove the limitation exception values from a procedure code, click the delete icon (this action will restore the values that are assigned to the category)
Clicking the blue plus (+) icon, allows the user to enter exception values (procedure codes with exceptions will be marked with a blue star)
Follow the 'Next' buttons through the setup steps.
At the final screen, click the Save button, and confirm the action.
NOTE: Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory fields.
NOTE: Screenshot examples indicate an indemnity insurance plan. Any plan type (Managed Care, Medicaid, Discount, etc) may be entered into the insurance plan database, independent of a patient record.
