My patient has an insurance plan attached to the record. The patient’s insurance plan has changed to a different plan. What’s the best way to change the plan information?

To change the insurance plan in a patient’s record:

• Click the word “Primary”
• Search the insurance plan database for the correct new insurance plan
  • Search for desired group number
  • Search for desired employer name
  • Search for desired carrier name
• Select the desired insurance plan from the list
• Ensure the patient’s benefits are updated
• Ensure the subscriber information is correct
• Click the Save button

The patient’s record reflects the currently attached insurance plan.
It is very important to re-estimate the Treatment Plan in order to ensure proper insurance estimations and coverage according to the new plan.
 
NOTE: Do not make changes to the original existing plan in the patient record. If you do make a change, it will affect ALL patients who are already attached to the plan.
If you are trying to establish a new insurance plan in the patient’s record by changing an existing plan’s information – STOP
THINK to CONSIDER the consequences
You should not make changes to an existing plan. Changing only a few things in an existing plan will change the plan for EVERY patient who uses the plan. This may not be the overall desired result.
