When a patient has dental insurance there is an “instant eligibility” also known as Real Time Eligibility (RTE) icon next to the word Primary (and/or Secondary). This feature is active only in accounts which utilize DentalXChange for electronic claims submission and has signed up for RTE, .
The “instant eligibility” icon provides only information which the insurance company desires to pass through DentalXChange. The amount of information provided is determined by the insurance carrier. The amount of information provided is not determined by Denticon, nor by DentalXChange.
The RTE function is especially valuable for the office to use for walk-in patients when there is little time available to obtain a full insurance plan and benefit breakdown but want to make sure the patient is insurance-eligible.
The “Insurance Eligibility Verification” (IVB) feature within the patient’s appointment uses Denticon’s DPS team to research a patient’s insurance eligibility. The IVB feature is a way for the dental office to obtain insurance plan and benefit information from the carrier using various methods – web, fax, and phone calls. Denticon’s DPS team obtains a highly detailed breakdown.
The speed in obtaining the IVB information is dependent upon many factors such as phone hold times, insurance company computers, insurance company websites, and issues locating the patient and/or subscriber.
The dental office is able to submit a verification for a walk-in patient, but completion is not guaranteed same day. The information can be obtained and provided to the dental office usually within 24 to 48 hours. This feature is available after discussion with your Customer Success Manager to research with feature is best for the practice.
NOTE: Both features require that the patient has a full Denticon patient record. Neither eligibility can be done for a patient without
a full Denticon patient record.
