The two reports generate different information, and should not be compared to one another. The insurance amounts are not intended to match, and should not be used as a comparison.
The Aging reports show:
- overall balance due
- a breakout of the Estimated Insurance portion for services billed to the ledger, when the “Aging - Detail” report is generated
- a breakout of the Estimated Patient portion for services billed to the ledger, when the “Aging - Detail” report is generated
The Outstanding claims report is a report of all claims sent, but not yet indicated in Denticon as paid by the insurance carrier. The report may not reflect all charges in the estimated insurance portion of the Aging reports since this report may not include Secondary Insurance, nor include other Claims not created.
Therefore, to know how much is expected from insurance, the office should generate the Aging report and review the Estimated Insurance column.
If the office wishes to follow up on Claims not yet paid, the office should generate the Outstanding Claims Report.
