This article explains the key production metrics available in the Denticon Practice Analytics (DPA) Production Analysis dashboard, including how each metric is defined and calculated.
Net Production
Net Production is the total dollar amount of dental services produced, less any production adjustments.
- Formula: Net Production = Gross Production + Production Adjustments
- Gross Production is the total fee amount charged for all procedures.
- Production Adjustments include write-offs, discounts, or other additions and subtractions applied to production.
Daily Production Goal
The Daily Production Goal reflects how much production a provider is expected to generate on each working day.
- Daily goals are configured in Denticon under Setup → Providers → Provider Goals.
- DPA multiplies the Daily Goal by the number of Provider Working Days to calculate the period goal.
- A working day is counted as 0.5 if total appointment time is 4 hours or less, or 1.0 if appointment time exceeds 4 hours.
- Cancelled, Blocked, and Missed appointments are excluded from working day calculations.
Daily Average to Meet Monthly Goal
This metric shows how much net production a provider needs to generate each remaining working day to hit their monthly goal.
- Formula: (Monthly Goal − Net Production MTD) ÷ Remaining Provider Working Days
- If the Daily Goal is set to $0, this metric will also display as $0.
Same Day Net Production %
This metric compares what was actually produced on a given day versus what was originally scheduled, helping identify how efficiently the schedule translated into actual production.
- Formula: ((Net Production − Scheduled Production) ÷ Scheduled Production) × 100
Scheduled Production
Scheduled Production is the total fee amount from upcoming appointments in the schedule pipeline.
- The default view covers today and the next 7 days.
- You can also view Scheduled Production through the end of the current month.
- Use this metric to determine whether the appointment pipeline is sufficient to meet monthly production goals.
