This article helps support teams and office administrators diagnose and resolve common data discrepancy issues in Denticon Practice Analytics (DPA).
Net Production Numbers Don't Match Denticon
Likely Cause
DPA may be using different date logic or provider working day calculations than the Denticon production report. DPA calculates "today" as a working day and includes it in MTD calculations, whereas the legacy Dentilytics Basic tool only counted through the previous day's date.
Resolution Steps
- Confirm the date range selected in DPA matches the date range in the Denticon report you are comparing against.
- Verify that provider daily goals are configured in Denticon under Setup → Providers → Provider Goals.
- Confirm that Cancelled, Blocked, or Missed appointments are not being accidentally included in the source report.
- Remind the user that DPA includes today's date in MTD calculations — this is a change from Dentilytics Basic.
Provider Utilization Looks Incorrect or Too Low
Likely Cause
The provider's schedule may not be correctly configured in Denticon, or holidays at the enterprise, office, or provider level may not be set up. Provider Available Hours is calculated using this priority order: Provider Schedule → Enterprise/PGID Holidays → Office Holidays → Office Open Exceptions → Provider Holidays → Provider In-Office Exceptions.
Resolution Steps
- Verify the provider's schedule in Denticon Setup.
- Check for missing or incorrect holiday configurations at all levels (enterprise, office, provider).
- Confirm that appointments are not incorrectly flagged as Cancelled or Blocked.
- Verify that appointment lengths are set correctly — a half-day is defined as 4 hours or less of total appointment time.
Collections % of Production Is Lower Than Expected
Likely Cause
Collection Adjustments may be entered as positive values when they should be negative (or vice versa), affecting Net Collections. Production adjustments may also be inflating Net Production.
Resolution Steps
- Verify that Collection Adjustment entries in Denticon are correct — positive for increases, negative for decreases.
- Check for large one-time adjustments that may be skewing the period results.
- Confirm the selected date range is appropriate for the analysis being performed.
Outstanding A/R Numbers Seem Higher Than Expected
Likely Cause
A/R in DPA is calculated as of the selected End Date and includes all outstanding production not yet collected, including credit balances. Note that the Morning Huddle Outstanding A/R uses the patient's home office (Account AR), not the transaction office.
Resolution Steps
- Clarify which A/R report is being viewed — Collections Analysis Report 2 vs. Morning Huddle.
- Check that the As of Date is set correctly.
- Confirm whether credit balances should be included or excluded for this analysis.
- Review the A/R Aging detail report to identify specific responsible parties.
Reappointment % Differs Between Morning Huddle and Patient Visit Analysis
Likely Cause
The two dashboards use slightly different calculation methodologies. Morning Huddle Version 2 (updated September 15, 2023) counts patients with all future appointments marked as Missed or Cancelled as "no reappointment," whereas Version 1 only counted patients with no future appointments at all.
Resolution Steps
- Explain the methodology difference to the user.
- Confirm which version of Morning Huddle they are using.
- Direct the user to Patient Visit Analysis for a comprehensive longitudinal view of reappointment trends.
