Why Watermarks and Provider Schedules May Not Match Expected Availability

If your practice is marked as closed on a specific day—such as Friday—but patients can still book appointments through MyTooth, the cause is usually related to how provider schedules and Find Slot settings are configured in Denticon.

This article explains why this happens and how to correct it.

Issue: Your office is closed on Fridays (or any day), yet patients can still see and book appointment slots.

What You Expect: No availability should appear on Fridays.

What You’re Seeing: Appointment slots (for example, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM) still appear for certain providers.

Even though the office is closed on Fridays, providers still have working hours scheduled on that day. When combined with the selected Find Slot Option, MyTooth may still display those provider hours as bookable.

1. Office Schedule

• The office is correctly marked as closed on Fridays.

2. Provider Schedules

• Several providers still have Friday hours configured.

3. Watermarks

• No watermarks are applied to providers in Denticon.
• Without watermarks, MyTooth cannot block availability based on production type or day restrictions.

4. Find Slot Settings

• Option C is enabled: Fixed Operatory(s), Ignore Production Type
• Two operatories are active.

5. Impact of This Setup

Because Option C ignores production type and relies solely on provider hours + operatory availability:

• Any provider with Friday hours will appear available.
• MyTooth displays those Friday slots even though the office is closed.
• Other providers with Friday hours contribute to additional unexpected availability.

You have two valid paths depending on how you want to manage scheduling.

Option 1: Keep Find Slot Option C

If you want to continue using Option C:

You must remove Friday hours from each provider’s schedule.

This ensures MyTooth has no provider availability to display on Fridays.

Where to update: Denticon → Provider Setup → Working Hours

Option 2: Switch to Find Slot Option A or B

If you prefer to control availability using watermarks:

Switch to Option A or B, and

Apply watermarks in Denticon to block Friday availability and align with production types.

This gives you more granular control over which procedures and time blocks appear online.
