The following guide is intended to go over how to resolve an issue where a single, specific PC in your office is causing you to receive failures in your Forward Images button.
Verify your connection to the DICOM server
The first item to check is if your DICOM server entry in XVCapture is correctly configured. If one or more fields are incorrectly configured, XVCapture will be unable to communicate with your XVWeb URL.
-
Launch XVCapture and navigate to Advanced User Tools > Preferences (password: AKRON)
-
Select DICOM > Configure DICOM Servers
- Select the DICOM entry listed in the window that will populate, then select Verify. A successful connection will show as below, which indicates XVCapture is able to reach our DICOM servers.
If successful, refer to Resubmitting Failed Forwards - XVCapture/DCV for instructions on resubmitting any images that had previously failed to forward.
Verify the file path to your certificate is valid
If you get an error stating "You must specify a PFX certificate file for TLS encrypted communications" when verifying your connection to the DICOM server, this indicates the Encryption tab of the DICOM server entry is incorrect.
- Launch XVCapture and navigate to Advanced User Tools > Preferences (password: AKRON)
- Select DICOM > Configure DICOM Servers
-
Select the DICOM entry, then select Update.
- Select the tab labeled "Encryption," and ensure the fields are entered as follows:
- Encryption: Set to TLS.
-
TSL Certificate Filename: This needs to be set to the filepath of your XVWeb certificate (filetype: .pfx). This file is typically found in the same folder where XVCapture.exe is installed. If this path is incorrect, XVCapture will be unable to connect to your XVWeb URL.
Click OK, then Select the DICOM entry and click Verify. The connection to your XVWeb URL should now be successful. If successful, refer to Resubmitting Failed Forwards - XVCapture/DCV for instructions on resubmitting any images that had previously failed to forward.
If you find the connection is still unsuccessful after clicking Verify, and the DICOM entry has been confirmed to be correctly configured, please refer to Whitelisting for Apteryx Software to ensure any firewalls or network security softwares are not able to block your connection.
Verifying the Image Forwarding configuration
If images are still failing to forward after XVCapture's connection to your XVWeb URL has been verified according to the previous section, ensure the Image Forwarding configuration is correct:
- Launch XVCapture and navigate to Advanced User Tools > Preferences (password: AKRON)
-
Select Image Forwarding from the left-hand menu
- Ensure the following options are checked:
- Add Image Forwarding options to the 'Image Operations' menu on the View Images screen
- Enable imaging forwarding on this computer
- Continuously forward images as soon as possible
- Automatically resubmit failed stores when sending images
- Set "Attempts (0 means infinite) to 2
- Set Time to wait before resubmitting an image to Do not wait to resubmit
- Ensure your DICOM entry is checked under "Images should be forwarded to the following servers" - if this is left unchecked, all images will continually fail to forward
Example of a correctly configured Image Forwarding section:
Click OK to save your changes and return to the main screen. If any prompts populate after clicking OK, click Yes.
Once complete, refer to Resubmitting Failed Forwards - XVCapture/DCV for instructions on resubmitting any images that had previously failed to forward.
Multiple NIC Cards in use (TLS Internal Error)
This is an issue commonly seen on PCs connected to panoramic imaging devices connected over Ethernet. XVCapture/DCV is essentially trying to forward the images to web through the connected hardware instead of through the internet, thus causing the error.
- Verify the DICOM error:
- In the main window of XVCapture/DCV, go to Advanced User Tools > Forward Images > Fix Forwarding Errors
- The Failed Forwards window should show a listing with an error message ending in "...the specified server '...' no longer exists!!".
- Close out of the Failed Forwards window and go back to Advanced User Tools button and click Preferences. After typing in the password (AKRON) click the DICOM Tab on the left-hand menu and then on the Configure DICOM Servers button on the right (may require scrolling down).
-- - Once the DICOM Servers window pops up, highlight your XVWeb Server by left-clicking it and select the Verify button. The DICOM Communication Status window will give you a TLS internal error.
--
- In the main window of XVCapture/DCV, go to Advanced User Tools > Forward Images > Fix Forwarding Errors
- Fix the DICOM error:
- Click the Windows Start Menu button (located in the lower left corner of the screen by default) and begin typing in “Network Connections” as soon as the start menu appears, then select the View Network Connections option that pops up.
- The Network Connections window should populate. This window will show all Network Interface Cards (NICs) connected to the PC. Disregard any connection that has a red 'X' under it, and notate the bottom line of any connection that does not have a red 'X'. That is the NIC Adapter Name, and will be needed later.
- Once you have notated your NIC Adapter Name, go back into XVCapture (Advanced User Tools > Preferences > Advanced from the left-hand menu) and under the Multi-Homed Options change the IP Address drop-down to the correct NIC Adapter Name. Once that is selected click OK and go back to the main screen of XVCapture to save this setting.
- Go back into Advanced User Tools > Preferences > DICOM and click the Configure DICOM Servers button. Select your XVWeb Server and click Verify. If you still get the TLS internal error message, return to the Advanced tab and select another NIC Adapter Name in the IP Address drop-down menu in the Multi-Homed Options section. If the DICOM Communication Status window shows Success, you should be able to move on and re-forward your failed images.
- Click the Windows Start Menu button (located in the lower left corner of the screen by default) and begin typing in “Network Connections” as soon as the start menu appears, then select the View Network Connections option that pops up.
- If you need to resubmit forwards that failed due to the TLS internal error, please follow our guide on Resubmitting Failed Forwards.
