Patients can be referred to providers based on specialty within the same office or a different location within the same PGID/Organization.
There are a few setup items required for the Providers:
At Setup / Providers / Providers Setup / select the provider / Edit
-Within the Info Tab, Billing Provider should be indicated as No and ensure a Specialty is selected for the Provider
-Select the 'Works At' tab, ensure the provider is assigned to work
-Select the 'Schedule Tab' to ensure a schedule is in place
Steps to create an Internal Referral
From the Treatment Plan Screen
Select the Procedures being referred
Click the Refer To button
Select Internal Referral tab
Update the Radius from the default of 25 miles if needed (Calculates distance from patient address to the provider treating location where the patient is being referred)
Select the Provider Specialty to receive results
Double click the location and provider you’re referring the patient
Create New Referral
- Xrays may be attached via Apteryx/Dentiray Web via (Office must be subscribed to Dentiray Web through Denticon).
- Handwritten referrals may be attached via or uploaded from your PC via or Referral 'Type' forms may be selected by clicking the 'Referral Form' dropbox.
- Providers may draw their signature via or Load their signature via .-
- Referral may submitted via .
Appointments can be scheduled if the User has the assigned rights to by clicking the calendar in the 'Internal Referral Management' screen.
When the calendar icon is clicked, the user will be directed to the 'Provider View' on the Scheduler.
All locations and operatories assigned will reflect in the 'Provider View".
An appointment for the internal can be created within this view so the referred procedures attach to the appointment. If you leave this view or the Scheduler page, the internal referral appointment cannot be made. The procedures would need manually adding to the appointment.
Please Note:
The Radius is based on the Office location at Setup / Offices / Office Setup vs. the patient home address. If the provider doesn't show up, it usually means the office and provider where the patient is being referred is further that 500 miles from the patient home address.
