How to Transition to the New SFTP Server for Nightly Data Download (BCP)

Overview

We recently notified clients about the migration of our SFTP service for the BCP files. The cutover is  scheduled for Thursday, March 27th. On this date, the DNS for ftp.planetdds.com will be updated to point to the new server, sftp.planetdds.com . In order to avoid any disruptions, we urge you to transition to the new service and conduct a test prior to the cutover.

If you have missed the initial transition or need help with the process, follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition.

Step-by-Step Guide to Transition to the New SFTP Service

1. Transitioning to the New SFTP Server

While not required, it’s important to test the connection to the new server to ensure everything will function properly.

a. Connect to the New SFTP Server

  • Instead of using the current SFTP URL (ftp.planetdds.com), use the new server URL: sftp.planetdds.com.
  • Update your SFTP configuration with this new server address.

b. Log in Using Your Credentials

  • Use your existing username and password to log in to the new server.
  • Your credentials have not changed, so you can continue using the same credentials as before.

c. Download

  • Download a file from the new server to confirm that the connection is working and you can successfully transfer files.
  • Ensure the download completes without issues.

2. Check IP Whitelisting

  • Important: Testing will only work for IP addresses that have been whitelisted.
  • If you encounter any access issues, check whether your IP address is on the whitelist. If you’re unsure, please contact our support team at support@planetdds.com for assistance in updating your IP.

3. Port 22 Users: Accept the New SSH Host Key

  • If you are using SFTP over Port 22, be aware that you may need to accept a new SSH host key when you connect to the new server.
  • If prompted to accept the key, please verify it before proceeding with the connection.
