Summary:
In most cases (approximately 99% of the time), Denticon unexpectedly closes when accessing pages that require a signature pad. This typically occurs on the following screens:
- Medical History
- Progress Notes
- Patient Consent Documents
- Treatment Plan presentation to the patient
Cause:
This issue is caused by Topaz signature pad drivers interfering with the Denticon application. When the Topaz drivers block Denticon, the program will close unexpectedly.

The issue can usually be resolved by uninstalling the existing Topaz drivers and reinstalling the correct version directly from Denticon.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Step 1: Uninstall the Topaz Signature Pad Drivers
- Open the Windows Start menu
- Go to Control Panel
- Select Programs and Features
- Locate Topaz Signature Pad in the list
- Select it and click Uninstall
Step 2: Reinstall the Correct Driver from Denticon
- Open Denticon
- Click Help in the top menu
- Select Downloads and Links
- Locate the Topaz Systems Inc. Signature Pad section
- Click Download e-Signature ActiveX Control
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation
Additional Notes
- Be sure Denticon is fully closed before reinstalling the driver if prompted.
- Administrator permissions may be required to install the driver.
If the issue persists after completing these steps, please contact Denticon Support for further assistance.
