Introduction
Denticon terms the “reception room computer” as “kiosk.” This kiosk can be used for patients to check in and complete registration forms, without having access to other parts of the software and other patient records.
Process description
A unique login must be created in order to access the patient kiosk. The login is location-specific, so if the dental operation has multiple locations, a unique login must be created for each location.
Gathering materials/resources
In order to setup a new kiosk user login, the user performing the action will need the necessary security rights assigned. Setup-Security Users Screen Full Control.
Step-by-step instructions
To setup a unique “kiosk” user login:
- Click the word “Setup” and choose the “Security” and “Users” options from the drop-down box
- Click the Add New User button
- Follow the xxx >> buttons through the setup steps
- Within “User Settings,” choose “'Patient Self Check-In Only” for the Start Up screen option
- As Denticon’s programming restricts the kiosk user to access anything beyond the patient check-in page, the selected group membership does not matter – but one must be selected
- At the final screen, click the Save button
To test the kiosk login:
- Access to www.planetdds.com
- Click the “Client Login” link
- Login with the kiosk username and password
Tips and best practices
One important thing to note is that though the messaging on the screen reads "New Patient with no appointment? Click here to register," existing patients will need to click there to fill out registration forms as well. This is because that link leads to the patient online registration portal which is the same portal for both new and existing patients. If a patient is already in the system Denticon will recognize they are an existing patient when they enter their name and birthdate.

Disclaimer
Please ensure that when setting a user to Kiosk mode it is the correct kiosk login. If a user accidentally sets their own login to kiosk mode, someone else in the office with admin access will need to switch the user back to a live user. Denticon support agents are not able to make changes to a user's setup on behalf of an office. If no one in the office has the ability to edit the user's setup, a support ticket will need to be submitted so that secondary support can be contacted to revert the user's setup.
