Applies To
- XV Capture software
- XV Web
- Panoramic (Pano) imaging workflows
- TWAIN or integrated pano devices
Issue
Pano fails to launch, open, or capture within the XV Capture/XV Web.
Troubleshooting Steps
Verify Native Manufacturer Functionality
- Test pano image acquisition directly from the manufacturer’s native imaging software (e.g., Planmeca, Sirona, Carestream, Vatech).
- If the pano does not launch or capture in the native software:
- The issue is hardware-, driver-, or manufacturer‑software–related rather than XV Capture.
Confirm Drivers and Services
- Ensure all required pano drivers are installed correctly.
- Verify that manufacturer services required for pano acquisition are:
- Installed
- Running
- Not blocked by security software or Windows permissions
Validate XV Capture Settings
- Confirm the correct acquisition mode is selected in XV Capture (TWAIN or integration, as applicable).
- Validate TWAIN configuration:
- Correct device is selected
- No conflicting TWAIN sources are enabled
- Ensure the image routing/site selection within XV Capture is correct.
Best Practices for Diagnostic Accuracy
- Perform calibration and validation using the local manufacturer software, as it provides the most accurate diagnostic controls.
- Ensure:
- XV Capture is on a supported version
- Manufacturer imaging software is up to date
- All related drivers are up to date
- Use XV Capture primarily for 2D reception and workflow integration, not device calibration or advanced diagnostics.
Notes
- XV Capture relies on proper communication with the pano device through manufacturer software or TWAIN.
- If pano imaging fails in native software, XV Capture will also be unable to capture images.
Diagnostic troubleshooting in XV Capture focuses on workflow validation and image quality optimization, not hardware repair.
