This guide is intended to outline how to add a post-capture filter to adjust the image orientation of images produced by specific sensors in XVCapture. This method of adjusting image orientation prevents users from having to manually rotate and/or flip their images after acquisition.
This is often needed after a new installation of XVCapture, a reinstallation of XVCapture, a new workstation has been set up, or a new sensor has been installed and integrated.
To add a flip and/or rotate filter to the sensor's corresponding Imaging Extension in XVCapture:
1. Launch XVCapture
2. Select Advanced User Tools>>Preferences (Password = AKRON)
3. Select Imaging Extensions on the left
4. For Direct Integration Devices - Expand Digital Xray Image Capture. For general TWAIN devices - Expand General Image Capture
5. Select the Manufacturer of the Device. If TWAIN device, select TWAIN Capture Acquisition
The type of device you choose should correlate directly with what device you select when you take the images. If you select TWAIN to take a Pano, your Pano is using the TWAIN interface. If you select Planmeca to take a Pano, you are using a direct interface and would want to select Planmeca under Digital Xray Image Capture.
6. Select Image Quality Settings > Modify Post Capture Filters
7. Select Filter Options>>Add New Filter>>Select Appropriate filter - Options that affect image orientation include Rotate 90 Degrees, Rotate 90 Degrees Counter-Clockwise, Rotate 180 Degrees, Flip Horizontally, and Flip Vertically.
Ex: if your images are coming out mirrored (right is left, left is right) you'll want to apply the Flip Horizontally Filter. If up is down and down is up in your current images, you'll want to apply the Flip Vertically Filter.
If your images are coming out rotated 90 degrees, apply the Rotate 90 Degrees Counter-Clockwise filter to offset the rotation.
8. Verify the filter was added to the list of applied filters
9. Select OK, then OK on the following screen, then OK on the last screen - this will take you back to the Main Menu.
All images captured using the Imaging Extension you've added the rotation or flip filter to will now have that filter applied during the capture process, allowing the images to return in the correct orientation.
