Introduction To Charging Patients via Payment Plan:
There are two options for adding Patient Balances to Payment Plans:
-
Current Patient Balances (Red)
-
1. Current Patient Balance = The amount owed by the patient on the Ledger for the present patient account.
If this is a shared responsible party, only charges belonging to the presently accessed patient will be available to you.
To move the full sum to the Payment Plan, press Move to Contract and the amount will auto populate under Patient Balance Amount.
-
2. Patient Balance Amount = This is the total that will be moved off the Ledger to be paid via this contract in incremental installments.
This number must be less than or equal to Current Patient Balance.

Treatment Plan Patient Balances [By TID] (Orange)
-
3. Treatment Plan Patient Balance for ID [#] = The under Est. Pat for the presently entered TID on the patient's Treatment Plan.
This cannot be edited, as the sum is precalculated and can only be changed by editing the Treatment Plan's Est. Pat values.
Enter a value in the box to determine which TID's full value will be added to the treatment plan.
4. Move to Contract = This button moves the displayed, fixed value of the TID's Est. Pat value to the Treatment Plan Amount field.
-
5. Treatment Plan Amount = The amount field for the Treatment Plan whose TID was selected.
This will only populate if the Move to Contract button is pressed.

Question 1: Why can't I enter more than the Current Patient Balance into the Patient Balance Amount field?
Answer:
The purpose of the Regular Payment Plan's Current Patient Balance and Patient Balance Amount fields is to allow the office to charge for pre-existing debts to the office. If you need to start a payment plan for a family, each account that owes something will need it's own contract for each patient in the system.
Question 2: Can I include multiple Treatment IDs in a single contract?
Answer:
No. Only 1 TID can be placed on a payment plan per patient at one time.
Question 2: Can I add both future treatment and previous treatment to the same contract?
Answer:
Yes. The Total for both types of owed payments can be found in the field called "Total Plan Amount (1+2)"
