Description:
Sometimes insurance carriers require multiple instances of the same code to be grouped together as units on the claim form. For example, instead of a D9223 being entered four times on the claim form, it would be entered once with a unit number of 4.
Key features:
- Box 29b of the ADA Dental Claim form will be populated with a unit number when a claim is created with multiple line items of the same procedure code.
- Box 31 will be populated with the grand total of all the units. If the fee for a code is $50 and the number of units is 4, Box 31 will show a total fee of $200.
Technical specifications:
To turn this feature on you will need to submit a ticket to Denticon support asking to enable the claim group multiple quantity feature.
Best Practices:
The claim group multiple quantity feature is available exclusively for ADA forms printed in Denticon and does not apply to e-claims. If an e-claim is denied due to duplicate procedures on the claim form, it should be resubmitted through the carrier portal or by mail.
