In order to print physical prescriptions, they must be setup as there is no option to create a new prescription type on the fly.
- To begin, go to Setup - Prescriptions.
- The Prescription is comprised of 5 fields: the Drug Name, Dispense, Sig, Refill and Dispense as Written.
- When adding a new prescription, begin with adding the drug name. This is the name that will print on the prescription.
- Next, add in the dispense instruction.
- Add the Sig. These instructions should detail how and when to take the medication.
- There may be times that additional instructions may need to be added on an individual basis. Those instructions will be placed in the Prescription Notes section on the prescription itself.
- Next, indicate the standard number of refills for the prescription. This number can be changed when prescribing the medication on an individual basis.
- Indicate whether or not any substitutions may be allowed for the medication by selecting yes or no to the Dispense as Written.
- If substitutions are allowed, select No to the Dispense as written prompt.
- Finally, confirm whether the prescription should be available at all offices or not.
- If so, leave the checkbox next to Add To All Offices checked.
- If unchecked, the prescription can be assigned to the appropriate locations under Office Assignment.
