The charting setup consists of three different areas: Colors, Materials and Perio Setup Templates. Begin by going to Setup - Charting and selecting your desired area.
Colors
The ‘Colors’ section controls the colors that will be displayed within the restorative chart.
To make changes to the color:
- Select the item that will be updated and select ‘Edit’.
- The Edit Chart Colors field will appear and allow for selection of the ‘Stroke Color’ and the ‘Fill Color’.
- The Fill Color will be the dominant color when viewing the condition on the restorative chart.
When the selection is made to chart the specific condition, they will display with the chosen colors.
Materials
In this section of the charting setup, decisions will be made around how the pattern of materials will be drawn. These patterns of materials will impact the draw types of services and conditions in the restorative chart.
In order to make edits:
- Select the material that should be modified and click ‘Edit’.
- The name of the material can be modified, as well as the pattern. The sample field displays the current draw type, and by selecting the icon with the ellipsis ‘…’, the choices for the patterns will display.
- Select the desired pattern and Save.
- New materials can be added as well and follow the same steps as an Edit. These material choices will be assigned under the Setup - Procedure Codes - Charting tab.
Once the material choices have been assigned, they will appear when corresponding charting selections are made.

- This section determines the pathway the system will follow as figures are entered in to the perio chart. Consider the order that your dentist and/or hygienist follow as they’re perio charting, and use the eight sections to establish the direction. Use the radio buttons within each section to choose the order, then click each section and use the arrows on the side to move them in to the proper order.
- Note: Each team member has the option of having a default perio pathway set at a user level. This means that several pathways can exist in the system and be controlled at a user level. Additionally, within the perio chart, users can switch which template they wish to use in real-time.
