Most labs will provide a unique pre-printed lab slip for completing the information necessary for the particular lab. When a dental office completes the unique pre-printed lab slip, it may be scanned into the patient’s Notes section for review and reference:
- Access the patient's record
- Click on the patient’s Notes icon or click on the direct Scan icon*
- If using the Notes screen, click the Add New Note button
- Change the Note Type to the “Documents (Scan)” option [NOTE: If the completed lab slip has already been scanned and saved within the office computer, use the “Documents (Upload)” option.]
- Choose the section into which the scanned document should be classified
- Enter any additional notes necessary in the “Notes” section
- Click the Save button
*If you are using the Scan icon - you can directly scan into the Patient's Notes
To view the scanned document, click the hyperlink paperclip icon on the patient’s Notes screen.
If the dental organization desires to input an office-specific lab slip:
- Click the word “Reports”
- Select the “Custom” and “Custom Letters” options from the drop down list
- Click the Add New Letter button
- Click on the drop-down arrow to select “Appointment Letters” for the Letter Type field
- Input a Name for the letter (aka: lab slip). This name will appear in the listing for easy selection of the desired statement when it is generated for a patient.
- If a title is desired to show at the top of the printed letter, indicate the desired text in the Title field
- In the Body field, indicate the template text of the letter
- If a Question Prompt should be included in the letter, click the Add Question button
- If a Pick List selection list should be included in the letter, click the Add Question button to incorporate a pre-defined pick list into the Question Prompt
- NOTE: Information about “question prompts” and “pick lists” may be located within the Help Portal.
- Click the Save
To generate the office-specific lab slip “letter”:
- Click the patient’s “Print Reports” icon
- Select the “Letters” option from the drop down list
- Select the “Appointment Letters” section to select the desired letter
- Define the letter parameters
- Click the Print / Preview button
- Complete the Question Prompts
- Click the Save PDF button in order to see the completed document on the screen, and to record a copy of the document in the patient’s Notes screen
