Description:
"Re-Estimate At Posting" is a checkbox located within the Edit Treatment module of the Treatment Plan accessed by clicking on a Diag Date column item.
Key features:
When selected, it will use the presently available insurance information on file (such as Family/Individual Remaining Max, Coverage and Limitations tab of an Insurance Plan, etc.) to determine the amount that should be covered for a patient's appointment.
By default, it is selected on all Treatment Plan items. If you create an Appointment using the Treatment Plan and have not Re-Estimated the treatments recently, this feature can result in a difference between the balance on an Appointment and the Ledger.
This balance in not incorrect, simply more up to date than the Est Pat balance on the Appointment or Treatment Plan.
Best Practices:
Always re-estimate the balance of a Treatment Plan before posting it the Appointment and let patients know that their coverage is dependent on the factors like Family/Individual Remaining Max, Coverage and Limitations, etc. before giving them an estimate.
