Dental organizations should be aware that Planet DDS employs stringent security measures.
Planet DDS employs multiple layers of redundancy.
For the main Database servers, Planet DDS utilizes:
- clustering with multiple copies of database files
- periodic backups including weekly full backups
- nightly differential backups
- fifteen (15) minute transaction log backups throughout the day
For additional servers, Planet DDS has redundant servers behind load balancing equipment to ensure reliability of the systems. Further, Planet DDS utilizes continuous replication of the production systems to an external DR site.
Practice data in Denticon is stored in Amazon Web Services and AT&T data centers at multiple parallel sites to allow for full redundancy should one site fail. The data is protected behind layers of intrusion detection and physical security for access to the hardware that stores it. Denticon data is also continuously backed up.
A high level view, albeit a brief description of the security processes maintained by Planet DDS, are:
- Starting at the communication between the browser and our web servers, employment of the latest encryption methods available to keep the data transmission between the client and our servers secure
- Maintenance of the latest firewall systems with an Intrusion Prevention System which blocks malicious attempts to gain access
- Employment of various methods of encryption for patient-identifiable data within the servers
- Implementation of a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) monitoring system to alert us at the first signs of an attempt to gain unauthorized access to the data so that we can take necessary steps to prevent an intrusion
