The Patient is the person on whom dental treatment is performed
The Responsible Party is the person who:
- is promising to pay the dental office all the money which is due for all the treatments performed in an account, no matter how many people are in the account, no matter if insurance assists with the financial payment
- will receive the monthly statement should the account be eligible to receive one, to remind the Responsible Party that money is due to the dental office
The Subscriber is:
- the insurance policyholder
- the person who will appear on the insurance claim form as the policyholder
The Account Members are all the family members within the Responsible Party’s financial care.
The patient:
- does not have to be the same as the Responsible Party
- does not have to be the same as the Subscriber
The Responsible Party:
- does not have to be a patient
- will be assumed to be the subscriber, but does not have to be the subscriber
- there is only one Responsible Party for each account
The Subscriber:
- does not have to be a patient
- does not have to be the Responsible Party
- can be different for each patient’s relationship with an insurance plan
The Account Member(s):
- will have the same Responsible Party
- can have different insurance plans, for which there can be a different subscriber
- can be a cash, non-insurance patient while some account members have insurance
When a patient record is created and the patient’s insurance plan is assigned, the subscriber information has defaulted to the Responsible Party’s information. If the subscriber needs to be different, the subscriber information must be manually changed for correct recording.
