Explosion Codes are shortcuts in which a user can quickly and easily generate a pre-defined selection of procedure codes to a patient’s appointment or treatment plan.
Denticon pre-loads a selection of popular explosion codes. The dental organization is able to edit the explosion code list.
To access the explosion code list:
- click the word “Setup”
- choose the “Procedure Codes” option from the drop-down list
- select “Explosion Codes”
Change an Existing Code –
To make changes to an existing code setup:
- select the desired code
- click the Edit button
- if an additional procedure is desired, highlight the additional code, and click the "Add -->" button
- if a procedure should be removed from the explosion code, highlight the additional code and click the "<-- Remove" button
- click the Save button
Add a new Explosion Code –
To design a new explosion code:
- click Add New Code button
- input a meaningful name in the “Explosion Code Description” field (this is the name that the user will see when attempting to locate and use the code)
- input a unique code entry in the “Explosion Code Short Description (no spaces)” field (the user does not see the short code)
- for each procedure desired:
- select the desired code
- click the "Add -->" button to place the procedure in the Explosion Code Procedures box
- if the new explosion code should be immediately available within all office locations of a multi-location dental organization, ensure the checkmark remains in the “Add to all offices ” box
- click the Save button
NOTE: It is recommended to have the setup of the individual codes be listed in logical treatment sequence so that the user’s experience within the Treatment Plan is more efficient. For example, a root canal explosion code should be entered and appear first-to-last procedure – starting with the root canal procedure code, then the build-up code, followed by the crown code.
