Enabling Medical Claims in Denticon is a collaborative effort between your practice, Planet DDS, and Stedi. Prior to activation, several configuration steps must be completed to ensure accurate claim creation, coding, and submission. The information below outlines some of the Denticon setup responsibilities that will be reviewed during onboarding.
Denticon Configuration
Denticon includes a series of interconnected configuration tables that support medical billing workflows and accurate medical-to-dental coding. These settings include:
- ICD diagnosis codes
- Modifier codes
- Place of Service (POS)
- Type of Service (TOS)
- CDT-to-CPT cross-coding
- CPT-to-ICD associations
- CDT-to-ICD associations
International Classification of Diseases (ICD)
ICD codes indicate the symptoms or diagnosis behind a treatment. Select these codes when posting treatment to the ledger or treatment plans. Denticon does have some existing ICD codes you may use. You may add codes manually for additional selections.
Access: Setup > Procedure Codes > ICD Codes
- Add/Edit ICD Codes > enter the ICD code > add a description > confirm the ICD-10 code.
Modifier Codes
Modifiers are descriptive codes reported alongside a procedure code to further specify the treatment.

Place of Service
Designates where the service was rendered. These are preloaded for customer selection.
- 03 — School
- 11 — Office
- 13 — Assisted Living Facility
- 15 — Mobile Unit
- 21 — Inpatient Hospital
- 22 — Outpatient Hospital
- 24 — Ambulatory Surgical Center (standalone facility)

Type of Service
Code to identify the general category of medical service provided. Some are included in Denticon however, you may add additional ones.

CDT x CPT Cross Coder
Connects a CDT (Current Dental Terminology) code to its corresponding CPT (Current Procedural Terminology / medical) code. Denticon will post the dental code in Denticon and on dental claims but if a medical claim is cross coded, that medical code will apply to the medical claim.
Several codes have default connections, if necessary codes can be added, changed, or removed.

CPT x ICD Cross Coder
The CPT (Current Procedural Terminology / medical) code should have an ICD (symptoms or diagnosis) associated. Choices here create a list to use when posting the procedure.

The CDT (Current Dental Terminology) code can have an ICD (symptoms or diagnosis) associated. Choices here create a list to use when posting the procedure.
