DentalOS®: Unified Login and Administration Across Planet DDS Products
Product: DentalOS (Denticon, Cloud 9, Apteryx) | Audience: All Users | Available: November 5, 2026
Overview
DentalOS® is a new platform layer that sits above your Planet DDS products, giving your organization a single login, a single identity system, and a single administrative console across Denticon, Cloud 9, and Apteryx.
Instead of managing each product separately — with its own logins, its own user setup, and its own security controls — DentalOS unifies them under one entry point built around how DSOs actually operate.
Why it matters:
- DSOs previously had to manage each Planet DDS product in isolation, with separate org structures and duplicated onboarding for every product a user needed
- There was no centralized way to enforce security controls like MFA or SSO across products
- Admin fragmentation compounded as organizations added more locations and products
- DentalOS solves this with one identity, one org structure, and one place to manage access
What's Included
| Capability | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Single sign-on (SSO) | One login gives users access to every Planet DDS product they're assigned to |
| Automatic user provisioning | Add a user once and they're provisioned across Denticon, Cloud 9, and Apteryx automatically |
| Instant deprovisioning | Remove a user once and their access is revoked across all products immediately |
| Centralized MFA/SSO via Entra ID | Enterprise-grade security controls configured in one place, applied everywhere |
| Org hierarchy | A standardized Organization → Org Group → Product structure that mirrors how DSOs are actually organized |
How DentalOS Is Structured
DentalOS introduces a three-level hierarchy designed to match the way DSOs manage locations and products:
- Organization — The top-level entity representing your DSO
- Org Group — A grouping within the organization, such as a region, division, or brand
- Product — The individual Planet DDS products (Denticon, Cloud 9, Apteryx) assigned within each Org Group
This structure replaces the need to configure user access and security settings separately for each product, giving admins one consistent view of the entire organization.
Getting Started with DentalOS
Step 1: Set Up Your Organization Structure
An administrator configures the organization's hierarchy — Organization, Org Groups, and the products assigned to each group.
Step 2: Configure SSO/MFA via Entra ID
Connect your organization's Entra ID (Azure AD) tenant to enable centralized single sign-on and multi-factor authentication across all assigned products.
Step 3: Add and Provision Users
Add a user once at the organization level and assign them to the appropriate Org Group and products. DentalOS automatically provisions their access across Denticon, Cloud 9, and Apteryx based on those assignments — no need to create separate logins in each product.
Step 4: Users Log In Once
Once provisioned, users log in through DentalOS with a single set of credentials and gain access to every product they've been assigned, without needing to sign in separately to each one.
Step 5: Manage Access Centrally
When a user's role changes or they leave the organization, update or remove their access once in DentalOS. Changes apply instantly across all connected products.
Who This Is For
DentalOS is built for DSOs and multi-location practices managing more than one Planet DDS product across their organization. It is especially valuable for organizations that:
- Use two or more of Denticon, Cloud 9, or Apteryx
- Manage onboarding and offboarding for staff across multiple locations
- Need centralized security policy enforcement (MFA, SSO, password policies)
