EDIT: This is a workaround and apparently not 100% effective. It seems if the edge client cannot access that setting you can still encounter the prompt sporadically.
Some enterprise or security setups can automatically configure Edge to allow certain URLs to access your local network. This is done via the LocalNetworkAccessAllowedForUrls policy, which can be set by:
Group Policy on corporate or domain-joined PCs
Device management tools like Microsoft Intune
Manual registry edits
When this policy includes hard-coded URLs, Edge may never prompt you for local network access, and the setting may not appear in Edge at all.
Check Edge Policies
-
Open Edge and go to:
edge://policy/ Look for LocalNetworkAccessAllowedForUrls.
Note: If the policy has hard-coded URLs, Edge may never prompt for local network access, and the setting may not show in Edge at all.
Remove from Registry
Press Win + R → type
regedit→ Enter-
Delete the value (or key) from:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edgeand/or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge Remove LocalNetworkAccessAllowedForUrls.
Restart Edge
Close all Edge windows
Reopen → go to
edge://policy/→ click Reload policies
The policy should now be gone.
