Download and install the latest version of MicroDicom from here: Downloads | MicroDicom DICOM Viewer - older versions do not contain the functions needed to accomplish full batch anonymization.
-
Launch MicroDicom, then select File > Open (or Ctrl +O). Navigate to where the DICOM files you’d like to anonymize are, select all of them, then hit Open.
-
Select File > Batch > Anonymize.
-
In the Batch anonymize window:
Leave the Source folder path as whatever was auto populated
Specify a Destination folder - this will be where your anonymized files are stored
Leave Template on Default
-
Under Quick additional settings:
Check Patient name, Patient ID, and Patient age
Specify a Patient name, Patient ID, and Patient age. These can be made up to whatever you see fit
Example:
Click Anonymize. Once complete, the resulting files can be imported into Apteryx via Import > DICOM Files, and will no longer contain any actual PHI in the metadata.
The Patient name specified during Batch Anonymization will only apply to the Last Name field, the First Name field will be blank. Searching for the patient by the ID number you specified in the Batch Anonymization window after you’ve imported the images is the best way to locate them.
