Settings not sticking
Many settings in the DirectVideo box are set per PC, per USB port the IO camera is plugged into.
Offices can either identify the designated IO cam port, or plug into each port and set the same configs on all PCs/ports.
Additional Steps:
Update Directvideo to the latest version available: Current Imaging Downloads
Older versions of Directvideo have issues with config files properly saving.
Launching DirectVideo Window Puts Apteryx into "Suspended" Mode
If launching DirectVideo appears to make the software "crash" and it cannot be force closed, there may be another piece of hardware plugged in to the computer who's drivers are interfering and will not let Apteryx mount the sensor, or close down properly.
If this occurs, its recommended to unplug peripheral devices one by one until the software closes, then test the camera without that device plugged in.
XVCapture becomes “frozen” or prompts an Out of Memory error after DirectVideo is left open for several minutes
This is a known behavior with DirectVideo - if DirectVideo’s interface is left open with no movement for several minutes (generally 3-5 minutes), it will cause an Out of Memory error to occur, or cause XVCapture to become non-responsive.
If this is experienced, try installing the following build of DirectVideo: DirectVideo_54515.zip
If it does not resolve the issue, the only resolution will be for the client to adjust their workflow so Directvideo is not left open for longer than necessary. DirectVideo should be launched the moment they’re ready to capture images with their IO cameras, then after capture, the user should return all images to XVCapture ASAP rather than leaving it open.
MouthWatch Camera Capturing Image Twice on Physical Click
If the MouthWatch cameras are capturing the image twice when they press the capture button, you can adjust the settings inside of the MouthWatch application (accessible within the System Tray) to correct this. Choosing VixWin from the list of available imaging software will often correct this issue and make the physical capture button return a single image.
MouthWatch Camera Not Displaying Live Preview
If a MouthWatch camera is connected, and selected as the active video source, but no live video preview is displayed, from the DirectVideo window go to:
Advanced Options > MPEG2
Clicking "MPEG2" should allow the live preview to immediately display. Clicking the option again turns the live preview off once more.
Daryou Camera displaying black video feed
Try toggling MPEG2 on (or off, if already toggled on):
Advanced Options > MPEG2
Clicking "MPEG2" should allow the live preview to immediately display.
MouthWatch Camera Could Not Initialize Video Error
The only known “fix” is a clean reinstallation of the operating system.
FocusDent MD740 Live Preview Window Displaying Black Box
If trying to configure a FocusDent MD740 intraoral camera to work using DirectVideo, but the capture window is only showing a black box, try these steps below with the device connected.
- Run the DirectVideo extension installer from the PDDS Product Updates page as admin.
- Select DirectVideo and perform a test capture. Make sure "USB Device" is selected in the test capture window, which should be the intraoral camera.
- If nothing is displayed in the preview window try enabling the still pin, and also try toggling the MPEG2 option. If, after toggling the MPEG2 option, you see a black box in the preview window proceed to step 4.
- Copy over the DirectVideo IXDLL file from below into the same directory of the current one: DirectVideo 10_0_0_23.ixdll
- Rename the current DirectVideo IXDLL to "DirectVideo_OLD.ixdll". Then rename the new version of the DirectVideo IXDLL to "DirectVideo.ixdll".
- Re-open XrayVision and try to perform a DirectVideo test capture once more, and try to toggle the still pin and MPEG2 options again. A live video preview should then be displayed.
Dexcam 4 HD - no live feed/capture button fix
- Set still pin to 640x480
- Change video capture pin to "mjpg" and set the output size to 640x480
- Set capture button (xtrigger) to "acclaim camera"
MouthWatch "80070005" Error After Initial Install
If you receive this error message after a new MouthWatch camera has been installed, try opening the Windows 10 Privacy settings (Settings > Privacy) and allowing all applications to access the camera. This allows the camera to be seen by AmCap and DirectVideo.
Iris x80 Camera “Error: Can’t initialize camera! status: 2”
If the user receives the above error, this is due to the Iris cam defaulting to HD video. HD video does not appear to work in the Direct Video extension, AM CAP, and even the Iris software, and you will receive that error in all of the above softwares. To correct this issue, hit the windows key and search for a program called “Iris HD Switch Tool”. This will open the tool in the system tray. Right click the icon and head to the settings and select enable SD in the options menu. This should force the drivers to default to the SD video option rather than the HD option.
Iris x80 Camera Capture Button Not Working (all settings correct)
If you run into an issue where the camera button is not working, but all of the settings are correct and it is working on other workstations, try copying the digidoc folder located in C:\Program Files (x86) from a working computer to the non working one.
