Optime error: Unable to write required info to the system registry
If you get the above error and the Optime works when run as admin, but not as a normal user,
apply everyone > full control to the registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Soredex.
Unsupported Capability Error When Capturing Through TWAIN
If capturing with an instrumentarium Pan and it throws an "unsupported capability" error when returning the image
Uncheck the automatically acquire box in the TWAIN interface
Optime giving an "Invalid Dimension (0x0)” error
Running this file on the customer’s computer will complete the below steps
UA Flag that needs to be reset for the Optime in the system registry:
Select Windows key+R
Type out regedit and hit okay
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Soredex\Dsd\Uid
OR
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Soredex\UID
Right click UAFlag and choose modify
Change from 1 to 0.
If the above doesn’t work:
Go into the Optime options and scroll to the bottom. There will be an option for image type with a drop down with various image types. Make sure it is set to Intraoral and it should fix the issue.
Incorrect Orientation When Capturing Bitewings
When capturing bitewings, there is a possibility the two center images will return vertically. This appears to be an issue with the Instrumentarium extension and not the Optime drivers and affects 4BW and 4BW2PA layouts. To work around this issue, revert the practice to the Soredex Optime extension located in the Legacy Downloads section under DCV and Apteryx Image Devices (v3.5).
Upgrader located here:
Be sure to run this upgrader as Admin, as it needs to install a few files to Windows/System32.
If the Optime.IXDLL refuses to install when running this upgrader, manually place Optime.IXDLL into the root folder. The upgrader must still be run as Admin to install supporting files.
Multi-Connect Setup
If an office uses one Optime device on multiple workstations, the below settings need to be enabled per PC for this to function:
Advanced User Tools > Preferences > Imaging Extensions > Instrumentarium > General Options:
Note: Turn off “Immediately proceed with acquiring a new image” if a workstation also uses this extension for a pano or ceph unit
Advanced User Tools > Preferences > Imaging Extensions > Instrumentarium > Optime/Scanner > Hardware Setup > Settings:
Multiconnect needs to be enabled, each workstation will have its own identifier number followed by its PC name. This enables the “reservation” icon to run in the System Tray
The Scanner Autorelease timeout can be raised if the office would like as well
Multi-Connect Reservation: User has to reserve the scanner between every image when capturing in a progression
In the Instrumentarium extension’s general settings, turn on “keep hardware open during layout.” This will prevent the Optime from having to be reserved between images when office is using a multi-connect setup.
Optime Capture Needs To Be Cancelled And Restarted
WARNING: Only run the Optime upgrader when you do not have any other Instrumentarium Devices configured/in use on the PC you are supporting.
In ticket 430194, running the Optime extension upgrader broke connection to the Soredex Pan(which also uses Instrumentarium Extension) and reverted part of the Optime drivers to an older version, which also resulted in cropped Optime images.(removing dicc.dll did not make a difference with the Pan nor Optime) If you have a PC that uses more than 1 Instrumentarium device on the same PC as the Optime, then the users will have to rotate the images each time they import and your PCFs need to have modality restrictions on them.
The other option is to have them use Legacy as a workflow- this office was willing to do that for image quality despite it being a longer workflow. We made the Instrumentarium TWAIN forever ago, but they own and support image quality coming through the Instrumentarium TWAIN using our Legacy TWAIN extension. In my ticket, we decided to use the Instrumentarium extension for the Optime and Legacy TWAIN for the Pans.
4/26/23 - We are seeing a pattern of issues with Optime capture needing to be cancelled and restarted in order for the Optime to ready. We have not been able to determine the root cause, however, it seems to be stemming from the latest driver update. We have seen positive results using the legacy Optime extension. When installing the extension, the IXDLL will not be installed due to a XVC version mismatch. Once you install the extension, move this IXDLL into the XVCapture install directory and test a layout capture.
Image Quality
Most times, you'll see that images look good when using TWAIN or XrayVision, but do not look good when using the direct extension in XVCapture. This is because the TWAIN and XrayVision use different PCFs than what is used in XVCapture's extension. I've found there is also a 2nd area where some image settings are being applied in the Optime Hardware options; those should be disabled as the PCFs combined with the hardware settings will over process the images.
Here are some settings used for an office having this issue:
Success found with the following settings
NOTE: this office only has an optime set up, so I removed all filters and applied these without modality or hardware restrictions. By default, there will be a ton of filter settings in this menu, all applying to different modalities and hardwares. These can be seen by scrolling to the right.
If they have multiple Instrumentarium devices connected to one PC, or use a server install of XVCapture, modality restrictions will need to be put in place so the settings don’t end up applying to ALL Instrumentarium devices.
To get to the settings shown below, go into the ixdll options > Optime > Optime Hardware Setup. Settings should be on the first page of that window. Noise Filtering will be set to "Classic" and Sharpening set to "Medium." Turn both of them off (see below)
