Ace Dental now has a “Cloud” version of their software that renders our DataGrabber DataDrill ineffective. The behavior when bridging from DataGrabber via the Ace Dental DataDrill can be very inconsistent and lead to Gender and Patient ID not bridging properly. As a result, it is imperative that you set up DataGrabber and direct the practice to contact Ace Dental support to set up the bridge to DataGrabber so that the practice may bridge to Apteryx or XVCapture. They do not have a native bridge to Apteryx at the time of writing this article.
There is very little visible difference between the non-cloud version and cloud version of Ace Dental, but if you are able to find the differences, please grab screenshots and ensure this article is updated with that information.
You should have Ace Dental support configure the Apteryx bridge, especially for those using Ace Dental Cloud. The only way we currently understand to check for it is if when bridging from DataGrabber, some patients bridge all info and others only bridge first/last name. That indicates that the Ace Dental bridge must be configured and pointed to DataGrabber as all of the patient info is not saved in that database file we normally pull from with DataGrabber. Then "DataGrabber" will show up on the same toolbar where you see "Dexis" in the screenshot. You can have it point directly to XVCapture, but it is better to point to DataGrabber instead so that they can bridge to Apteryx, especially for front desk PCs. The command line information needed to bridge to XVCapture, DataGrabber, all legacy products, and Apteryx are all the same format which is why this works.
Screenshot taken from Youtube channel. Have to select a patient from the schedule and click "Main" tab to bridge patients.
When a bridge has been configured by Ace Dental support, it will show up like the Dexis button at the top, but should say “DataGrabber” or “XVCapture” or something similar after being set up. My recommendation is to use DataGrabber since they do not have a bridge to Apteryx from Ace Dental currently, only legacy software.
