How the Interop creates/defines Application Definitions
Two types of launched application definitions exist
Sitewide
Found by Interop
Sitewide definitions are created and defined manually and are available to all users in any capacity so long as the interop is installed.
Other definitions are created and exist dynamically. Each time the view screen is accessed, the extension does a check for existing applications via Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Apteryx\ApplicationFullPaths. If a valid definition exists, it will be displayed as a launched application definition in Apteryx

Remove all definitions
Run preferred capture program as admin and refresh Apteryx page
Have seen a case where the interop was properly set up, but would not work if “always run as administrator” was checked in XVCapture.exe’s properties. Unchecking this allowed the interop to work.
Interop icon remains yellow and CMD prompts appear when attempting to bridge or when accessing Apteryx
If you see the below occur (yellow interop icon, blank CMD prompt appears) when accessing Apteryx after installing the interop:
And after hitting enter a few times, the CMD prompt populates with the following:
This is caused by Apteryx.Bridge.exe (found under C:\ProgramData\Apteryx\Apteryx) being set to “Run this program as administrator.” This exe cannot be run as administrator for any reason, and the only way to resolve the above is to disable the setting to “run this program as administrator” within the exe’s properties menu.
NOTE: If XVCapture.exe is set to always run as administrator as well, that setting will need to be disabled on XVCapture.exe. If XVCapture.exe is set to run as admin and Apteryx.Bridge.exe is not, the bridge will not function.
