FDA Approved pathologies and limitations
Decay: 12 years and older
Bone Loss/Bone Ratio: 22 years and older. Images containing only adult teeth
Export functions
Currently, the only method of exporting images with AI findings visible is to use the Screenshot tool with “Show AI Results” checked.
AI Vendor logical workflow
Apteryx posts new AI request in AI Vendor’s queue
AI vendor reads the request from that queue and accepts or rejects it
AI vendor closes the request (end here for rejected requests, proceed for accepted requests)
AI vendor requests patient information from Apteryx
AI vendor receives patient information
AI vendor requests image from Apteryx
AI vendor receives image
AI vendor sends overlay results
Apteryx stores overlay results

Customer Disagreement with findings - Overjet
Use macro: Support > AI > Disagreement with Findings > Customer Response
Reach out to the customer and use macro: Support > AI > Disagreement with Findings > Data Collection
Collect the following:
Avoid collecting and distributing any PHI
Full series URL (e.g. https://ledapteryx.Apteryx.net/#interactive?patient=421)
-
Name and version (or Unique Device Identifier) of their medical device
-
Document from customer as well as information from the image in Apteryx
In Apteryx, select image in question
-
Select info button
-
Document Device Model and Device Serial
Collect ID of the image
-
-
Customer (clinic) name and address
Collect from Salesforce and office contact as well because SF sometimes only has the head office’s address.
Date the complaint was received
The nature and details of the complaint
Any investigations and actions taken by Planet DDS on the issue
Supply that information to the ticket via the macro: Support > AI > Disagreement with Findings > Data Collection
Within 3 days of the customer report, forward information to Overjet (see below)

Initial integration: When a user selects a series on the left hand preview bar, all images in the series are sent to Overjet’s AI pipeline. Assuming the images meet qualifications for processing (see the ZD article)
New integration (not implemented yet): When a user captures new images and those are stored in Apteryx, they are automatically sent to Overjet’s AI pipeline. If the images meet qualifications for processing
After send: Overjet’s pipeline will send us back a JSON file averaging about 1 minute (see below) that contains all information that is to be displayed on the image. This includes coordinates (x, y) for each pathology and its elements. Currently the UI does not automatically notify the user when the data is ready to be overlaid on the applicable images. This necessitates the user to re-select the series on the left hand preview bar to “refresh” the associated AI data.
After the pipeline has returned data to an image, when the image is selected, all pathologies will be overlaid. The user can then toggle off/on each pathology layer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to see results from Overjet?
Once your images are in the web, they begin immediate processing. After approximately 1-2 minutes, the data will be ready. This may take longer for sensors with very high resolution. Apteryx suggests ensuring that images are queued for processing by selecting the series preview thumbnail immediately after they become available.
We apologize for any inconvenience delay may cause and ask that you contact our support team if there is significant AI processing time delay in excess of 10 minutes.
Can all patient images be used with AI?
The currently approved pathologies and their requirements are below
Decay: 18 years and older
Bone Loss/Bone Ratio: 22 years and older. Images containing only adult teeth
Can all types of images be used with AI?
Intraoral x-rays (taken with a sensor/phosphorous plate scanner) will be available for use with Apteryx's AI tool.
