Setting Up DCV For Apteryx Devs

I recently had to set up DCV (again) and I forgot everything. Lots of half truths spread about. Hopefully this serves an all encompassing guide that wont change much for devs to incorporate DCV on their workstation.

Installation

Download DCV.zip to your local machine

Extract the contents

Copy the DCV_13069 folder to a stable, but accessable directory. I placed mine in C:/Users/BrandonHill/Documents

Open the DCV_13069 folder and run XrayVisionDCV.exe

Proceed through the base installation process

Configure Image Forwarding

Open XrayVisionDCV.exe

Click on Advanced User Tools → Preferences

Password is AKRON

Click on DICOM in the left panel → Scroll down and then click Configure DICOM Servers

Click Add

In the General tab input the following information for configuring Dev

  • Server Nickname: dev

  • Server AE Title: test

  • Server IP: dicom.Apteryx.dev

  • Server Port: 2762

In the Encryption tab input the following information

  • Encryption: TLS

  • TLS Certificate Filename: Click the … 3 dots and navigate to the certificates20251027_192139 directory that is from the DCV.zip package you downloaded earlier

    • Optionally: You can get the certificates from the Apteryx instance you’re configuring to forward images to

    • Login to test.Apteryx.dev

    • click admin in the top right → Settings-> Site Info-> Download certificates button

  • Select the .pfx file from the DCV.zip folder or that you got from Apteryx

  • Click OK to close the server addition window

In the server list highlight your recently added server and click ? Verify button

You should now see that it successfully connected

Click OK to go back

Check the checkbox for Enable Proxy Retrieval for only select DICOM servers and then select the dev server in the menu.

Check the checkbox for After proxy retrieval, query from specified DICOM server (if disabled, the retrieved data will be retrieved form the local database) and then select dev from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Image Forwarding in the left side panel

  • Now add that new server to the section for Image Forwarding for Newly Acquired Images by clicking the little icon on the top right of the window

  • Ensure the checkboxes checked on this image match your configuration

  • Click OK to close the Preferences window

Add the License

Make sure DCV is closed
In your folder DCV_13069 Copy and paste the ApteryxINI.INI file attached in this guide into that folder

Install The Simulator Plugin

Make sure DCV is closed

Double click DCV3_5_5v11_0_0_2-SimulatorUpgrader.exe that was included in the DCV.zip attachment

Click Next through the wizard

You may be prompted saying you’re on a trial license. That’s ok. Just keep flowing through the install

Testing Image Forwarding

Open DCV

In the main XrayVision DCV window click Capture Images

Fill out the patient information - Remember the ID or name you input because we will be searching for it in Apteryx

Now click Capture Images

In the Select Modality Window just keep it IO → Click OK

Select the 2BW progression in the top right

Click Start Progression Capture on the top right

Now click Done

The images should automatically be forwarded to test.Apteryx.dev

Confirming Images Were Forwarded

Go to https://test.Apteryx.dev

Login

Search for the Patient you created

Verify the patient and the Images are present in Apteryx
