Purpose: This guide will walk you through how to successfully install XVCapture for a client.
We need to use the information provided on the install appointment (Apteryx.Install@planetdds.com). The appointment will provide information including: contact information, practice information, practice management software, number of capture computers, x-ray hardware, Apteryx site name, and a link to their SalesForce (SF) account. Using the SF link, we can verify that the Apteryx name matches the appointment and verify what tier of Apteryx was purchased. I have created a temporary website for this called guide.Apteryx.net.
Once you have this starting information from the install appointment, you can grab the current XVCapture build. Here is a link for XVCapture.
Information Gathering
Create a folder with the SF account name to stay organized. Example:
Using the “Apteryx Address” field in SF, we can copy it and then find it on the sites’ page. Example: On the sites’ page we can ctrl+f to search for the site quickly.
Prep Work
Once the site is selected, we need to download the token and the certificate files.
-
To download the token, select “Registration Licenses”, click “View”, then click “Download INI”
-
To download the certificates, we click “Download Certificates”, enter in the customer’s Apteryx site, and then click “Confirm”.
-
We must extract the .pfx certificate from the download.
-
The .pfx certificate and the ApteryxINI.INI(Token) can now be cut into the install
Download the correct hardware extensions that the client uses from the https://apteryximaging.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412758829595-Current-Imaging-Downloads page. For this guide, we will add the simulator.
-
Paste the hardware extensions into the “Extensions” folder.
Now that files are prepped, you can connect to one of the customers capture computers.
Setting Up the First Capture Computer (Also known as “Build’)
-
Copy the Apteryx folder the root of C.
Launch XVCapture as Admin for the first time. If you receive the MSVCP140_Atomic_Wait.dll error, you can run the vc_redistx86.exe inside of the XVCapture folder. Or, follow MSVCP140_ATOMIC_WAIT.dll was not found error. The redist does not require a reboot.
Click “Yes” for a desktop icon.
-
Go into “Preferences”. Use password: AKRON
Select DICOM on the left side.
Scroll down and select “Configure DICOM Servers”
Click “Add”
-
Fill out the “General” tab. Change “Server AE Title” to match the client’s website name.
Select “Encryption” at the top. Drop down to TLS and point to the .pfx cert on the C drive.
-
Click “Ok”, then highlight the site and click “Verify”. You should see “Success”.
-
Select “Image Forwarding”. Click this blue button on the right hand side, then click Ok. Match the checks in the below screenshot.
-
Select “Advanced” then click “Set This Configuration As Default”, and click “Yes” to all the pop ups.
Click “Ok”, then click “Yes” to the additional pop ups.
-
From the home screen, select “View Images” and then select “Apteryx” under Data Source.
Close out of XVCapture. We can now add our hardware extensions. Run any hardware extensions that you added to the “Extensions” folder during your prep work.
-
You should also run the “ApteryxInstaller.exe“ and the default browser extension. In this case Chrome in the screenshot.
Your install on the first computer is now complete. You should copy the “Apteryx” folder to a networked location where the “Apteryx” folder can be pulled down to the root of C on the other computers. Alternatively, you can copy the “Apteryx” folder back to yourself and then transfer it through Logmein to other computers’ C drives.
You may need to make hardware edits on each capture computer. A good example is Schick sensors: https://apteryximaging.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407881878043-Schick-Recommended-Image-Quality#DCV
Submitting an Install Ticket for New Clients
-
Search for the account in ZD. (You can paste in the SF account name for the search)
-
Go to users and select a user. If no user exists, add one.
-
Click “+New Ticket” in the upper right corner.
Apply “Apteryx Install and Testing Complete” macro.
-
The macro will auto fill most of the Subject and the body of the ticket. You will need to edit anything marked in the below snip. You should copy the install appointment info into the body as a cya and helpful info for Keith Kneisley’s team to start billing the customer.
Note: Brand should be PlanetDDS for any Denticon customers and Apteryx for everyone else. Submit as solved.
