This SOP outlines the process for when any department comes across imaging hardware not covered in the Device Support - Quick Reference Table.
You have come across a device you have not heard of or seen before
Check the quick reference table to verify the device does not exist
-
Gather as much information about the device as possible
Manufacturer
Model
Type (Pano/CT/Sensor/Scanner/IOC)
-
Does it use TWAIN drivers?
We should attempt to get TWAIN driver version if possible
-
Does it have its own dedicated drivers?
We should attempt to get driver version if possible
Are there any indicators it is a rebrand of another known device?
-
If device was found by support or implementations:
Attempt to test the sensor in XVCapture or Apteryx Online Capture
Test through CCB TWAIN extension and general TWAIN extension
If it appears to be a rebrand, test using known brand’s extension/plugin
If you were able to get the device working via any extension, document all that was done to get the device working (changes in device’s own TWAIN interface, settings in our extension, post-capture filters, driver versions and/or changes, everything that attributed to the device becoming functional)
If you were unable to get the device working via any extension, take detailed notes and screenshot any errors. Grab any logs available as well
NOT SURE IF WE SHOULD HAVE A COMMENT ADDED WITH ALL THIS INFO IN THE QUICK REFERENCE TABLE OR IF THE INFO SHOULD BE PASSED SOME OTHER WAY
-
Senior Tech should add all pertinent info to the quick reference table
Potentially create hardware article in confluence for device if success was found
