Denticon converted from a one-stage login to a two-stage login on October 5, 2023. Your username and password remain the same — no credentials need to change. The new two-stage login is an industry standard and prepares Denticon for future functionality such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
Applies To
Product: Denticon
Plan: All plans
Role: All users
Before You Begin
- You must know your Denticon username and password. Autofill will not work the first time you access the new login screens — you will need to enter your credentials manually on the first login after the change.
- If you do not know your username, ask your administrator to look it up in Setup > Security > Users, or use your browser's saved password settings to retrieve it (see Steps below).
- Usernames are assigned and maintained by your organization. Denticon Support cannot retrieve individual user account information.
What Changed
Previously, Denticon displayed a single login screen where you entered your username and password together:
The new two-stage login separates this into two screens. The first screen prompts for your username only:
After entering your username and clicking 'CONTINUE', the second screen prompts for your password:
You still log in from the same URLs — www.planetdds.com or www.denticon.com — using the same 'Client Login' button.
Note: The 'I can't access my account' link has moved to the password entry screen (Step 2). You must know your username before you can use that utility to recover your password.
Steps
Logging In With the Two-Stage Login
- Navigate to www.planetdds.com or www.denticon.com and click the 'Client Login' button.
- Enter your username in the 'Username' field and click 'CONTINUE'.
- Enter your password in the 'Password' field and click 'LOGIN'.

- Click 'Settings'.
- Click 'Autofill and passwords' in the left menu.
- Click 'Google Password Manager'.
- Locate the saved entry for denticon.com in the 'Passwords' list to retrieve your username.

- Search for the user by name to see their assigned username.
Note: Usernames are assigned and maintained by your organization. Denticon Support is unable to retrieve individual user account information.
Printing a Username List for Staff (Administrators)
To give staff a reference list of usernames without exposing passwords, run the User List - Summary Report before or on October 5th:
- Navigate to Reports > Lists > Security List.
- Select 'User List' under 'SELECT REPORT'.
- Set the 'REPORT FORMAT' to 'Summary'.
- Click 'PRINT / PREVIEW' to generate a list of all usernames without passwords.
Updating Trusted Sites to Allow Pop-Ups
Planet DDS recommends adding Denticon domains to your browser's trusted sites to prevent 'Pop-up blocked' notifications and reduce extra clicks each session.
Note: Editing trusted sites in Chrome only affects Chrome. Editing them in the Windows Control Panel affects all browsers on your system. Use the method best suited to your needs.
Updating Trusted Sites in Google Chrome
- Open Chrome and click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Click 'Settings', then click 'Privacy and security' in the left menu.
- Scroll down and click 'Pop-ups and redirects'.
- Under 'Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects', click 'Add'.
- In the text box, type each URL below and click 'Add' after each:
[*.]planetdds.com[*.]denticon.com
Both domains will now appear in the allowed list and pop-up windows will be permitted without confirmation prompts.
Updating Trusted Sites via Windows Control Panel
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options.
- Click the 'Security' tab.
- Click the 'Trusted Sites' icon (green checkmark).
- Click the 'Sites' button and add the Denticon domain URLs.
Note: Some organizations have IT restrictions that prevent users from updating these settings. If you are unable to update these settings, contact your office's IT support team.
Expected Result
After completing the two-stage login for the first time, you will be logged into Denticon normally. From the second login onward, your browser's Autofill will recognize the new screens and populate your credentials automatically. Your Denticon username and password remain unchanged throughout this transition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to change or update my username or password?
A: No. This transition requires no action from users to log in via the new screens.
Q: Will this new login screen require me to check an email or text message to proceed?
A: No. This update does not introduce Multi-Factor Authentication to Denticon user accounts.
Q: Will Autofill still work to populate my username and password?
A: Initially after the change, Autofill will not function because the new screens will not be recognized by previous Autofill settings. Once you log in manually for the first time, Autofill will remember and populate your credentials going forward.
Q: Is there a way to print a list of usernames for staff without exposing passwords?
A: Yes. Run the Reports > Lists > Security List > User List - Summary Report on or before October 5th. This generates a list of all usernames under your account without displaying passwords.
Troubleshooting
Problem: Autofill does not populate credentials on the new login screens
Cause: The new two-stage login screens are not recognized by Autofill settings saved for the previous single-stage login screen.
Fix: Enter your username and password manually the first time. After a successful login, your browser will save the new screens and Autofill will work on subsequent logins.
Problem: You do not know your username
Cause: Usernames are assigned by your organization and may not be memorized if Autofill was previously handling login automatically.
Fix: Retrieve your username from your browser's saved passwords (see the Chrome or Edge steps above), or ask your administrator to look up your username in Setup > Security > Users.
Problem: Pop-up windows are being blocked after logging in
Cause: Denticon domain names are not listed in your browser's or system's trusted sites, causing the browser to block pop-ups.
Fix: Follow the 'Updating Trusted Sites' steps above for Chrome or Windows Control Panel to add [*.]planetdds.com and [*.]denticon.com to your allowed sites list.
