When e-prescribing from Denticon through DoseSpot, some providers receive a "Patient is invalid" error. This is almost always caused by a provider's multi-location prescribing setup not matching how DoseSpot has that provider configured.
Symptom
- User attempts to e-prescribe from Denticon to DoseSpot
- Error message displayed: "Patient is invalid."
- Prescription cannot be submitted
Root Cause
This error occurs when a provider e-prescribes from more than one office location, but DoseSpot has not registered that provider as a multi-location provider. The mismatch between the provider's DoseSpot configuration and the location they're actually prescribing from triggers the invalid patient error.
Resolution Steps
- Confirm the setup — Ask the office whether the provider prescribes from more than one location.
- Direct them to DoseSpot — Instruct the office or provider to contact DoseSpot directly and request that the provider be set up as a multi-location provider.
- DoseSpot Support contact:ds.pdds.support@dosespot.com
Notes:
- This is a DoseSpot-side configuration issue, not a Denticon defect — no escalation to engineering needed.
- Denticon cannot make this change directly; the office/provider must initiate contact with DoseSpot.
