We want to add procedure codes which differentiate between various types of the same procedure. How do we input the same, but different, procedure code?

Denticon allows only one unique procedure code to be entered, but allows that a lettered sub-code can be utilized.

Sub-codes allow the office to specify differences when entering procedures. The ADA claim form will use only the standard ADA code portion on the claim. The sub-code will not appear on the claim form.

Example: the standard ADA code from the CDT Code Book is D2740 – Crown Porcelain/Ceramic Substrate

To differentiate the code, in order to track specific types of material, Denticon advises to use lettered sub-codes.

Examples:

• E4D crown – D2740B
• CEREC crown – D2740C
• Empress crown – D2740D
• Procera crown – D2740E
• InCeram crown – D2740F

NOTE: Denticon’s programming does not support the usage of special characters for the sub-code. Examples of “special characters are ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) { } [ ] ~ < >
