During the development of the Time Clock feature, Denticon’s programmers considered the option to allow an automatic capture of a check in and check out based on the login activity of the user.
Automatically clocking a user in and out based on program login and logout may be acceptable for the few employees who never leave their computer, except to go on quick breaks.
However, Denticon has noticed that most users login and logout many times during a typical day. Therefore, automatically “punching in” and “punching out” based on the numerous times a user logs in or out would have created too many erroneous punches.
Another reason Denticon did not connect the user login to the time clock is that some users may not have their own dedicated work station. Many staff member use a common area computer or use someone else’s computer to complete work.
