This article reviews the workflow for installing XVCapture with a template installation.
While XVCapture does not have a dedicated installer, it can be installed using a template installation. A template installation is a pre-configured installation of XVCapture that includes the necessary configurations to ensure captured images are successfully forwarded to XVWeb. PlanetDDS Support is happy to supply a XVCapture template installation upon request.
When submitting a request to PlanetDDS Support for a template installation, please ensure to include the following:
- Practice information to confirm the XVWeb site:
- Practice Name
(If part of a DSO, then the parent company's name) - Practice Phone Number
(The phone number a patient would call to reach the Dental Office, not a cell phone number) - Dentist Name(s)
- Software Registration Numbers (how-to find) AND/OR a screenshot of the imaging software in use
(####-####-####-####-####-####) - XVWeb URL or Denticon PGID/OID
(if applicable) - Any other identifiable information
(practice address, alternative phone numbers, etc...)
- Practice Name
- Capture devices that will be used within XVCapture at the new capture station(s)
Please note that template installations do not traditionally contain custom progressions/layouts or image quality settings. When its necessary to install XVCapture to a capture station that uses custom progressions/layouts, please submit a ticket with PlanetDDS Support that specifies custom progressions/layouts are in use, and we will coordinate to prepare a template installation of XVCapture that contains the custom progressions/layouts. When its necessary to install XVCapture to a capture station that uses custom image quality settings, please submit a ticket with PlanetDDS Support that specifies custom image quality settings are in use, and a technician would be happy to assist with replicating these settings on a new capture station.
Additionally, please note that the XVCapture template installation does not include the driver installation for capture devices. If a capture device is not recognized when capturing and the driver has not yet been installed, PlanetDDS Support highly recommends contacting IT or the capture device's support team to receive assistance installating the necessary driver(s) for the capture device(s).

Installing XVWeb Interop, if needed:
Some non-Denticon practice management software bridge to XVWeb only, rather than bridging to XVWeb and XVCapture. In the event your practice management software does this, the bridge from XVWeb to XVCapture, XVWeb Interop, will be needed to ensure patient information can be bridged from your practice management software to XVWeb to XVCapture. To install XVWeb Interop, please reference the following steps:
- In XVWeb, click the colored dot in the upper right next to your username.
-
Install both the browser extension and XVWeb Bridge components
- Refresh your browser and verify the dot has turned green
For more information on the XVWeb Interop bridge, please reference: How to Install the XVWeb Interop.
Next Steps:
If difficulties installing XVCapture are experienced or your template installation is not performing as expected, we highly recommend submitting a ticket with PlanetDDS Support or continuing to work with PlanetDDS Support, if a ticket has already been submitted. We are happy to assist as needed.
